Developing a major events programme

Over three years, we managed all major events for the University of Canterbury Students’ Association (UCSA), including their flagship Orientation and Winter Festivals, some of the largest events they’ve ever run.

Our role spanned the entire event lifecycle: from initial event design and artist contracting to logistics, implementation, and on-the-ground delivery.

We worked closely with high-profile artists including Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, FLUME, Six60, Ladyhawke, and NETSKY, handling every detail from contracts to performance management.

Managing large-scale events like these meant coordinating complex logistics such as alcohol licensing and management, traffic control, security planning, and crowd management, while also maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with the University of Canterbury, Christchurch City Council, Police, and local community groups to ensure a safe, and successful event.

Beyond delivery, a key focus was empowering and training UCSA staff to take over event management internally, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to confidently run these major events in the future.
